Thomas Berry coined the term 'Geologian' as part of rejecting the terms theologian and ecotheologian to describe ecological theology. **See:** [[Ecotheology]] Today the term 'Geologian' can be loosely translated as being an 'Earth Scholar'. However, [[@Thomas Berry]] himself defined, ‘geologian’ as one who has emerged from eon’s of geological and biological evolution to reflect upon the world.
We can see this as a type of consciousness made manfiest and reflecting back on itself or it’s environment in various other traditions including [[Living Cosmos Panpsychicsm]], [[Process Philosophy]] and [[Transpersonal Panentheism]]. Which describe the origin of consciousness made manifest in both cosmological and geological scales. A geologian then is an earth being made conscious and thus reflecting on it’s place within the greater earth and within the cosmos.
