>'Throughout its history, after all, science has borrowed concepts, models, images from outside itself and them adapted them to its needs. Newtonian physics could not have bootstrapped itself into existence if it had not appropriated the image of a law-giver deity who lent nature a rational order.' - Theodore Roszak
Newtonian physics is the modern mode of science that western civilization uses today and that was created during the 17th century. It is materialistic, atomistic, and mechanistic. Focuses on parts, systems, and the body/mind duality. However, it is not the same as [[Cartesian Philosophy]] as it removes the concept of motion via vortices / tourbillons. Instead, it introduced the concept of [[Corpuscularianism]]. Which became the modern paradigm for science, once it was infused with mechanism, the dualist view of matter, and became [[Newtonian Atomism]].
**Corpuscularianism:** a philosophical theory that posits all matter is composed of tiny particles called corpuscles, which can possess their own properties and are divisible, unlike atoms. This theory explains natural transformations through the interactions of these particles and has historical ties to early modern science and alchemy.
