Place based naming, the stories and mythologies held in the land that en-liven it and are a part of the culture that created and maintain them. When these are gone either through erasure, colonialism, re-location etc. the land is recategorized away from subjecthood and into the realm of object. Once objectified the land vulnerable to exploitation and eventual destruction.
