![[canvas_winter-personal-curriculum-260308_1631(1).png]]Accountability is extremely important when studying on one’s own, so I wanted to share with you all what has happened with my last round of personal curriculum studies. This is the first time my personal curriculum has both failed catastrophically and wildly exceeded expectations. Firstly, most people didn’t show up to my Greek study group and eventually I had to cancel it. Then, I got sidetracked by opportunities. I got accepted into a software development bootcamp, I joined Women in Data and started studying data analytics. I had to put herbalism on hold because I couldn’t get the funding I needed to finish my studies, I’m basically upskilling in the hopes of getting a job in the tech industry so I can afford to finish.
What I failed:
- Greek
- Reading Goals
- Herbalism (on hold)
- Latin (switched methods)
What I Succeeded at:
- Symposium
- Daily Latin Reading
- Building a French Conversational Practice
- Listening to a few lecture series
- Reading
- Tons of tech classes via DataCamp & LaunchCode
- Three certifications on DataCamp
Lecture Series:
- Jane Austen (completed)
- Ancient Egypt (not completed yet)
- Earth Science (not completed yet)
Reads:
- ‘Ardea’ Freya Matthews
- ‘Code Dependent’ Madhumita Murgia
- ‘Data Feminism’ Catherine D’Ignazio & Lauren F. Klein
- ‘On Fairy Stories’ J.R.R. Tolkien
- ‘Ecological Feelings’ Joshua Trey Barnett
I also completed around thirty classes on DataCamp. So, while I had to divert away from my learning goals a bit, I think in the long run this may have been one of my most successful study seasons yet. I haven’t had time to set up the spring personal curriculum yet but I should have it out in the coming weeks. I would have had it out sooner but I ended up getting a terrible cold which I’m still recovering from. I promise to get it out soon.
