## Attractor Geometry
The basin has become viscous — trajectories slow within it, and the system's responsiveness decreases. The attractor remains but the basin walls have become adhesive, pulling the system toward heaviness and inertia. The system's self-organization is dampened literally and dynamically.
## Process Description
Fluids and dampness have accumulated beyond the body's capacity to transform, transport, or discharge them. This may manifest as phlegm, edema, lymphatic congestion, or excessive secretions. The wet quality here is not the appropriate lubrication of tissues but its pathological excess — what Galenism called phlegm-dominance. Whiteheadian creativity is muffled: each occasion of experience inherits a heavy, undifferentiated causal field.
## Symptom Overview
Heaviness and puffiness in tissues. Slow, slippery pulse. Copious mucus or secretions. Edema, especially in lower extremities. Foggy thinking and mental heaviness. Nausea. Loose, bulky stools. Sensation of weight in limbs. Skin that weeps or suppurates easily. Voice sounds wet or congested.
## Temperature Substate
Neutral to Cold 1–2 (dampness is thermally neutral but cooling in effect).
## Spirit Hub Implications
Middle hub most affected — respiratory congestion and cardiac weighting. Lower hub shows digestive sluggishness and lymphatic overload. Upper hub experiences cognitive clouding from the "phlegm misting the orifices" pattern.
## Formulation Direction
- **Attractor:** Dry, transform, and discharge accumulated damp and phlegm.
- **Stabilizer:** Stimulate lymphatic and digestive transformation of fluids.
- **Buffer:** Protect existing fluid balance; prevent over-drying of mucous membranes.
- **Vector:** Direct to primary site of accumulation (respiratory, digestive, or lymphatic).
## Exemplar Herbs
Elecampane, Mullein, Cleavers, Burdock, Dandelion root, Poke (low dose)
## Clinical Caution
Avoid demulcents and moistening herbs as primary agents. Distinguish from Damp Obstruction, where movement is blocked; here the problem is quantity of fluid.
## Developmental Notes
The wet quality accumulation pattern is foundational to many chronic conditions. Formulation must account for whether damp is hot, or cold, as these create compound situations requiring composite strategies.
