*An experimental path towards reconciling Galenic / Humoral Medicine via Process Philosophy To Create A Modernized System of Herbal Medicine.*
**This system is still in development and has not been tested yet.**

# Overview
A **rule** means a proposition that holds universally across the system and from which clinical rules can be inferred from its corollaries.
These rules are derived from the influences of:
- Process Philosophy
- Dynamical Systems Theory
- Galenic / Humoral Medicine
- Modern Herbal Traditions: Vitalism, Physiomedicalism, Medical Herbalism etc.
It is important to note here that the creator of this system has worked within the traditions of:
- Plant Spirit Herbalism
- Vitalism
- Medical Herbalism
While also having a background in modernizing Galenic texts and researching Humoral Medicine.
## The Clinical System:
```
Rules > Axioms > Corollaries > Formulation Principles > Assessment Sequence
```
## Relational Ethics:
See: [Relational Ethics](https://werringworlds.cc/Home/Relational+Ethics/Relational+Ethics)
The relational ethics are guidelines for how we should act within the world and with all species. As such, it is a companion to the clinical system and can be viewed both through it’s foundational metaphysic and outside of it through the influences of ecospheric ethics, eco-chaplaincy, and relational kinship.
## Differences Between Process Dynamical Herbalism & Network Medicine
**Network Medicine** maps the molecular architecture of disease — charting interactions between genes, proteins, metabolites, and cellular pathways to identify where biological networks break down. It’s a clinical and research framework aimed at diagnosing pathology and targeting interventions at the biochemical level.
**PDH** works on a completely different scale, rather than tracing connections between molecules or cells, it attends to the quality of living tissue states — the thermal, vital, and dynamic character of the body as an integrated whole. Its orienting question is not _what has broken down and where_, but _what kind of terrain is the organism expressing, and how can it be supported toward greater coherence and balance_. In process-dynamical terms, this means reading the body's current attractor state and working to restore healthy basin geometry — the conditions under which self-regulating vitality becomes stable and self-sustaining. Herbal formulation within this framework is therefore oriented toward shifting tissue states: warming or cooling, moistening or drying, diffusing or consolidating — with the aim of cultivating a favorable terrain rather than eliminating a defined pathogen or correcting a specific molecular defect.
**Important:** PDH is not a medical system. It does not diagnose conditions, treat diseases, or serve as a substitute for professional medical care. If you have a health concern, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.
## Meta Rule:
_The fundamental underlying rule that governs all others_
Assess the landscape before the state, the mode before the quality, the basin before the direction, the hub before the symptom, the phase before the herb, and the control parameters before the formula — then prescribe the minimum sufficient vector to move the organism toward the conditions in which its own self-organising capacity can restore it.
## Influences:
- Terrain Theory - Antoine Bechamp
- Galenism / Humoral Medicine - Galen, Aristotle, Hippocrates
- Process Philosophy - Alfred North Whitehead
- Modern Western Herbalist Traditions - Physiomedicalism, Vitalism, Medical Herbalism etc.
- Kinship
## Guiding Ideas:
- The organism and its environment co-determine the trajectory of any disease process.
- Process-dynamical herbalism asks ‘what kind of becoming (dynamical pattern) constitutes living process?’
- Rejects mechanism and dualism in all its forms.
- Rejects the notion of living beings as objects. We live in a world of subjects.
- All is bound up in relational processes including health.
- Disease is a stable state, not an intrusion.
- The attractor landscape determines susceptibility and response.
- The microbiome can be understood as a nested dynamical system with its own attractor landscape that is coupled to and co-regulates the organism’s attractor landscape.
### About The Image
The image was created with A.I. as an experiment (it’s the only a.i. generated image on this site) to see if PDH could be summed up in a single graphic that depicted the various parts. Much like the images in a medieval bestiary, it can be used as a memory device. I’ve hand made these types of devices in the past for herbal identification with Queen Anne’s Lace and find them quite reliable for memorizing information, we might not otherwise remember.
- **Center:** Seed of life, depicted as seven interlocking circles with a double spiral, representing becoming, processual flow, and the moment of concrescence. The inner hexagon pair traces the basin geometry.
- **Inner Ring:** Equlateral triangle with nodes at its vertices, representing the three spirit hubs. The ghosted inverted triangle forms the full Star of David, which represents the attractor pair motif. The four mandorla lenses at the cardinal points encode the attractor, stabilizer, buffer, and vector of herbal formulation.
- **Middle Zone:** The four disruption modes appear as a cross with diamond vertices and connecting polygon.
- **Temperature Rings:** Eleven concentric dashed rings from outer (long dashes for the six heat substates) to inner (short dashes for the five cold states), each with decreasing density toward the center.
- **Outer Coronoa:** Six large mandorla leaves represent the temperature as basin signature / Galenic six non-naturals. The 12-fold petal ring outside represents the zodiacal / humoral cycle. 24 radial tick marks represent the outmost border.
*There’s a few more things that can be represented in this image that I found quite interesting. The radial ticks marking time, the inner flower mirroring the days of the week, and the segments of three ticks between the large petal ring representing the number 18 or ‘life’. You could also say that the 12 fold petal ring represents the daylight hours. If you count just the mandorla leave you get the number 10, which can represent two different things. The first being a representation of the dimensions in physics. The second being a representation, in abstract, of the kabbalistic tree of life.*
